How To Be Safe on the Web

Hi there girls! I'm going to write a post about how to be safe on the web.
Remember, not every site is safe for kids. You need to be careful in what you watch, click on, and listen to. Certain sites might give you computer a virus, and that will make it very slow, so ask your mom or dad before installing a program or checking out a new site.

When you sign up for things, or subscribe to them, take a close look at what your getting yourself into. Ask for permission before registering into ANYTHING.

On games that have chat, there are sometimes cyber bullies. Cyber bullies are people who type mean things to you. Cyber bullies can send you emails, mean things in chat, and if your homeschooled they can send you mean things. If you encounter a cyber bully, don't talk back. Just log out, click X, and shut down your computer. Then go tell a trusted grown up, such as a teacher or parent.

If you have an email, be sure to only check emails when you know the return address. If you do not know the return address, delete the email. The email could say the nicest thing, such as The Best Candy You've Ever Tasted. If you don't know it, don't open it. And in the mail, if you don't know who it's from, do not open it. On your phone (if you have one), sometimes people send you texts and call you. If you don't know the number, do not open it. Some companies have ways for you to block certain unsafe numbers. Ask your parents if they can put a setting like that onto your phone.
