D.I.Y: Celebrating Birthdays

My little sisters birthday is coming up (February), and I began to think on how to make it the absolute best. Then, of course, I came on here and began to type up how to make a birthday to best. And that's what I'm doing now.

People love it when you get crafty, instead of using things bought from the store, but some think it looks junky. Its up to YOU. Don't think of what other people might think of you, but do what makes you happy. So, if you want to make a handmade sign and card, wonderful! If you want to buy it, look for what your friend likes. As for games, here are a few of my favorites:
1. Marco Polo
2. Freeze tag
3. Olympics (if your in a park, run up and down the obstacles and make it a obstacle course)
4. Musical chairs
5. Swing it around (wrap up something. like a big chocolate bar super duper good, with tons of layers and pass it around. once you get it, you have to try to rip it open. you have to pass it when a grown up says pass, no matter where you've reached. then the next person does the same and it goes in a circle).
6. Guess how many (pour a lot of something, such as candy, into a jar. have everyone just how much is in the jar. whoever comes closest to the exact number gets the whole jar of it).
7. (Save the best for last!) Food Art (Get different types of food and paper plates. Make faces, rainbows, or whatever you want!)
8. (This is for if it's an Only Girls party). Have a Fashion Show! (Create your own style out of crafty stuff around the house. You can even ask your friends to bring not-being-used white T-shirts to draw on and model. If you want it to be a competition, choose some grown-ups or girls to be judges. Whoevers' the most craftiest wins!)

For food, which is my favorite part, choose your friends favorite! If he/she likes pizza, get pizza, and have a side dish like fries and fish, oh, and make sure you have something healthy, like a salad. And that's pretty much it. You can add a bit of your taste to the party as well. Here is a website with a little more info. ;-)

Prepare for a Trip

Going on a trip? Wanna remember every single last detail, and also be extremely prepared? Well this is the post for you! Read on, and you'll get some advice from yours truly about going on trips.

To remember most of the things you did on your trip, and also have a good activity, you can make a Adventure Journal aka Trip Journal. Write down what you are doing (or was doing). Write down who is with you, the weather, and where you are. Also, write down what you want to do while you are there. You can even pass the journal around to other family members, so they can write down what they want to do while their there, just so you can get different point of views. You can decorate the cover of the book, with suitcase stickers, or anything you want. Oh, and I almost forgot! Don't forget to write down what you ate too!

To be really prepared, and ready for any bump in the road, you need to pack well. If you are going somewhere where it is cold, pack some warm clothes (scarves, gloves, sweaters, etc.). Also bring lotion and chap stick. You skin can get super dried out in cold areas! If you are going somewhere hot, bring cool clothes (T-shirts, shorts, sandals, etc.). Some of the things you should always have in your bag, no  matter what weather, is:
1. Chap stick
2. Light snack
3. Lotion
4. Pen and paper
5. Hand sanitizer
6. Camera (optional)
7. A book (optional)
8. Small bottle of water
9. Binoculars (optional)
10. Pocket change
There are other things you should have that I didn't mention, but these are the main things. Have a Happy Trip!

Winter: Snow Princesses

Can you believe it's almost winter? Amazing. I don't like winter that much, only because of the coldness. But, there are other things I DO like about winter. One, you can go ice skating, skiing, or sledding. But there's one thing, and only one, that makes winter special. And that one thing is...building snow princesses! So, let's get creative here. Instead of a carrot for the nose, we could use, hmmm, a celery stick? OK, that's somewhere. But, what about the shirt? No, no rocks. Too ordinary. How about, buttons?! Perfect. Okay, we're getting better. Now we go to the head. A blue stitched hat? Definitely NOT! A pretend tiara would be grand. (You can find that at a dollar store). Last but not least, the arms. What will we do with those? Keep them as sticks of course! But lookie here, not ordinary sticks. We are going to paint the sticks (in whatever color you want), and if your daring enough, you can even stick stickers! Picture that in your head, or even draw it out on paper, and decide if that would be perfect for a snow princess. If you have any ideas, post them as comments below, I'd really appreciate it. Snowy wishes everyone!!!

Swimming

Do you like swimming? I do. I think it's fun, and keeps you fit. Some people do yoga in the water. Some people walk around the sides of the pool a lot of times to exercise. When they do that, the water sort of pushes them back, so they have to push forward, using energy. That's a form of exercise. I go to the YMCA pool to swim. In fact, that's where I came from just now! People usually go swimming in the summer, but you can go anytime of the year, if you use an indoor pool. To me, swimming isn't that hard. When I had just started, I said, "I don't really like swimming that much," to my mother. But I kept doing it, and once I practiced holding my breath and paddling, I loved it! If you've never tried swimming before, you should start. Even if you don't enjoy it that much, at least you experienced it! :) :) :) :)

To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.
