Hard Sugar Candy/Nut Brittle

Nut Brittle...

What You'll Need:

Nuts, preferably peanuts or cashews
Sugar
A small pot
Hot water
A stove
A spoon
Tablespoon

How To Do It:

Get one cup of sugar and dump it into the small pot. Put the pot over the stove on LOW heat. Grab the spoon and continue stirring. Don't leave it for a spilt second! Okay, maybe a second. But if that sugar turns black, it is NOT coming off no matter how hard you try.

For my pot, I gradually had to turn the heat up. The highest is went was 3. My stove's low is VERY low. After at least 2 minutes, if NOTHING happens to the sugar, turn up the heat a bit. Don't turn it too high otherwise the sugar will burn. Wait for the sugar to turn into a syrup. As soon as you see that syrup, here's where it gets tricky.

Grab your nuts and dump it in. Stir until all the nuts are covered in the syrup. Do this as quickly as possible, the sugar syrup hardens VERY quickly. Grab a sheet of parchment paper and your tablespoon. Use your tablespoon to scoop out clumps and dump it onto the sheet. Whatever's excess, you can dump it out onto the parchment.

If the sugar gets hard in the pot, don't try scraping it off. Believe me, I did. Just fill the pot with hot, hot water and soap. Leave it there for a bit, and the sugar should come off. If the water gets cold, refill with hot water and soap.

Don't worry, the nut brittle cools very quickly. When it's hard, have a taste! Sweet and salty.....MMM!!!

Hard Sugar Candy...

Follow the same steps in heating up the sugar in Nut Brittle. Instead of adding nuts, just grab the put and put a layer of syrup as thin or as thick as you want on the parchment paper. Wait for it to cool, and smash it with something hard. Candy pieces will fly, so make sure you do this in a clear area. Smash it as small or as big as you desire. Enjoy it!

Experiment...

Don't be afraid to experiment! How would Skittles taste in the candy? What would happen if you added food coloring?

NOTE: YOU CAN USE BROWN OR WHITE SUGAR. I USED BROWN SUGAR. I PREFER IT OVER WHITE SUGAR. HAVE FUN! :)

Summer Eleven

Summer Eleven is one of my most FAVORITE movies of ALL time. Correction, it IS my favorite movie. Made in 2011, it's about 4 girls in a summer before 6th grade. They're nervous and have to deal with some things like homelessness, a brother away at war (though no war scenes are shown), a divorced mom with a new boyfriend, and a girl who yearns to follow her acting dreams. It's heart-wearming, and touching. I think it's GREAT for any sleepover or movie night. I actually plan on watching the movie with my bestie when she comes over. I love the movie and I give it a 9/10. The only reason it got one less a point is because I wanted a Summer Twelve!!!!!!!!!!! Summer Eleven is on Netflix and I'm pretty sure it's on Hulu, but I have Netflix so I dunno... I'm sure you can find the full movie on YouTube too, please check the movie out!!!! <3333

Here is the trailer to give you a sneak peak. :)

How To Keep Your Room Clean

Aah. That nice little chore where your mom comes in and says, "No friends over until this room is clean!" So awesome, riiiight? Well after you read this post, your mom will be encountering a BIG surprise the next time she opens your bedroom door!!!

As you know, I just got my own room! :3 SO HAPPY!!!!

But, I have to keep it clean. Aah.

I have some tips on how to do JUST THAT!!!

1. Try to put things away when you take them out. Yeah, yeah, I know, you learned this in preschool, but it can really help when you don't feel like putting things away!

2. As soon as it starts getting messy, start to clean it up. Would you rather have a big mess to clean, or just some pens and socks and books here and there?

3. Pay your sibling or friend to clean it for you, you sneaky little devil.

4. Organize yourself. Have bins and compartments for different things, and label them.

5. Make cleaning fun! Impossible, you say? NOT! Ask your bestie if she can come over and help you. Hey, you're besties! If she asked you to do something like that, you'd do it! If she/he can't come over, just pump up the music, and dance your way through it, honey! No music? Grab three bowls. Fill them with your three different snacks. Put the three different snacks in each corner of the room. Each time you pass by the bowl take one of whatever you put in there! While you clean, you enjoy some snack time!!!

I hope my tips help. Have tips? The comments are awaiting...
